Hey Guys!! Happy Sunday Funday š
Guess where we are right now?!? You’re about to find out. We set off for Surprise Vacation yesterday and my dad wrote a little guest post for all ya’ll explaining all the crazy clues… so read on to find out where we are…
To all of you who tried to solve the Surprise Vacation puzzle here goes!!!
Hope you had some fun!
We are going on a cruise of the Coastal Wilderness (Inside Passage) in Alaska! So now the clues are EASY!!!!!!
Here they are with the answers:
Along the easternĀ coast, ruins to behold
Some cities, some towns, so quaint and so old.
The ruggedĀ wildnessĀ of life
Such beauty, such magic, such strife.
InsideĀ we go, away from the beach and away from the bold
ToĀ passĀ the time, for ages untold.
Solution: The use of Eastern here is a purposeful deception, with the key words inĀ BOLD:Ā Coastal WildernessĀ andĀ Inside PassageĀ are the names of the areas we will be visiting
From here IĀ sit,
To leave on this wonderful trip,
We will be there soon,
Heading home inĀ June.
Solution: We leave fromĀ Sitka and return (head home) fromĀ Juneau
Early to rise,
The sky so blue
I don some clothes
And observe the view.
Sites abound
Wonders all around
Solution: Simply that you get up early and get dressed as it is cold outside to see beautiful sites each morning. Given the long days it is light most of the day, and many of the wonders occur early in the morning hours!
So warm on top,
So cold below,
Two different worlds
For us to go.
On the rocks,
MyĀ calves so cold
Or is it I, just getting old
Solution: In Alaska, 60 degrees for us on land, much colder in the water below. We will be seeing the glaciers : Ice calving –Ā calves so cold.Ā (ps I am not that old š )
Sites for sore eyes:
My wonderful UncleĀ SalĀ will visit us onĀ monday, GREAT!
Boy,Ā what an amber lookingĀ ale, it tastes so good on these hot summer days!
Solution:Ā SalmonĀ andĀ WhaleĀ – come on this one was easy!
Or; can in the mirror, I only see
A name, or me?
Solution: Same as the one before –Ā OrcaĀ andĀ Anemone……duh!
MomāsĀ house, in theĀ middle, of AA
I must find her room, āAackĀ this is hardā,
But well worth the pain.
My favorite clue š Solution: “Mom” went to University of Michigan in Ann Arbor (AA). She was in the AlphaĀ ChiĀ Omega sorority house (theĀ middleĀ word). Throw inĀ AackĀ and you get:Ā Kayak.Ā We do a lot of this on the trip and the kids ALWAYS complain of how much they hurt after kayaking!
Passive, active or ney, hoorah!
A choice to make each lovely day.
Solution: Each day on the trip you get to pick if you want a super active hike, moderate activity or just sit on your butt.
A monthly read, what a buzz
Amazing views with words to love
Solution: We are going on a National Geographic cruise. National Geographic Magazine comes outĀ monthlyĀ and is the color of a bee (buzz), black and yellow. It does have wonderful pictures and stories.
Name, borrow and brothel areĀ close
TapĀ across the gardenĀ hose
Solution:Ā CloseĀ meaning almost spelled correctly: Nome, Barrow and Bethel are cities in Alaska.Ā TapĀ is theĀ Trans-alaskaĀ pipeline, like aĀ hoseĀ carrying oil across the state
āAu naturaleā is it for me?
Helps me learn of what I see
Solution: there is a Naturalist on the boat who teaches us each day about the sites we experience.
AtĀ 2:15Ā we lay down to sleep,Ā atĀ 2:17Ā she snores
How much can I take, I need my rest, with wonders still to explore.
Solution: We are in Rooms 215 and 217 on the boat, and although she will not admit it, my wife does rarely snore š
Sounds bizarre of that I am sure
But promise I do that while away,
All that ails will be cured!!
Solution: How can a cruise along the Inside Passage of Alaska not cure all your worries and concerns??!!
Great job on all the guessing that’s for sure. A few of you certainly got the location so you get 2 stars for that, but nobody solved them all, so still a partial victory for THE CLUEMASTER!!
Until next year,
Bruce
