Eeeeeek! So excited to be bringing back one of my favorite features here on WGC… Obsessed! It’s all about people, places and things that I’m obsessed with and today it’s all about one of my dear friends Jamie Beck from Ann Street Studio!
Jamie and I first met in the Santiago Chile airport after a long overnight flight!! I was in Lululemons and a sweatshirt (obviously) and Jamie was in the cutest travel outfit ever complete with a red lip. She’s without a doubt one of the most put-together and fashionable people I know and I absolutely adore her! Not to mention she pushes me to actually put on real clothes rather than yoga pants and I appreciate that because as I’ve learned through spending time with her… yoga pants are not acceptable for all occasions!!
She’s an incredible photographer and storyteller and has shot for Chopard, Lincoln Motor Co., and Stuart Weitzman. I mean, she’s kinda a big deal! Her website Ann Street Studio is a constant source of inspiration and I love following along on her adventures all over the world. We’ve been on some seriously fabulous trips together including Chile and Brazil and I’m 100% sure that there are more South America adventures in our future as we’re both obsessed with our friends over at LAN/TAM! Plus she shares my love of Moqueca and avocado toast and knows how to host an epic dinner party!!
Her husband and partner in crime, Kevin, is equally as awesome, but we’re saving him for his own feature coming soon!
So without further ado… meet Jamie!!
Gaby: How did you get to where you are now in your career?
Jamie: Believing in what we do, saying yes, showing up and working hard. Lots of nights and weekends have been given up for our career and I still feel like we’ve only just begun.
Gaby: How do you stay inspired?
Jamie: Photography books
Gaby: What’s your favorite part of your job?
Jamie: When I get to take pictures
Gaby: What is the top place on your travel bucket list?
Jamie: There is this cruise down the Nile River on the Steam Ship Sudan I’m living for
Gaby: If you were stranded on a desert island, what 3 things would you bring?
Jamie: A knife, chapstick and Harrison Ford….. though I probably wouldn’t need the knife because I have Harrison Ford so I’ll change that for lotion.
Gaby: What’s your favorite weekend getaway?
Jamie: Anywhere with grass under your feet and trees over your head
Gaby: Favorite workout/hardest workout you’ve ever done?
Jamie: I’m not really into “hard” workouts. I just like going on epic long walks around the city.
Gaby: What’s your go-to outfit?
Jamie: Black shift dress, men’s black dress shoes.
Gaby: What advice would you give someone who is young and wants to have a career such as yours one day?
Jamie: Be a photographer because you have to be, not because you want to be, then do it everyday.
Gaby: What’s the most adventurous things you’ve ever done?
Jamie: Galloped on a horse through the mountains of Patagonia
Gaby: You’re all alone on a weeknight – what do you have for dinner?
Jamie: I can’t remember the last time I’ve had a dinner alone. I’d probably have a kale salad or vegetable soup, something simple.
Gaby: If you had to pick a last meal, what would it be?
Jamie: Steak frites from Ralph’s in Paris, a whole bottle of red wine. Go out with a bang.
Gaby: What’s your favorite way to eat avocados?
Jamie: Guacamole!!!!!
Gaby: If you had to pick one reality TV show to be on, which one would it be and why?
Jamie: lol, this question is so you. I don’t know, Cosmos?!..
Gaby: What’s your favorite cocktail?
Jamie: Depends on the time of day. Spicy margarita in the afternoon, dirty martini after work, wine with dinner, and campari on the rocks with a twist when it’s all said and done.
Gaby: Harry Potter or Hunger Games?
Jamie: Ummm Game of Thrones.
Gaby: If you were one of the Real Housewives on Bravo, who would you be and why?
Jamie: The Countess. Obvi.
Gaby: If you could have one superpower, which one would you have?
Jamie: To be invisible!
