Family Game Day Menu

Thank you to Capital One for sponsoring this post.

We’re in the thick of Game Day season and today we’re bringing you a quick and easy menu, no matter who you’re cheering for!

Game Day in my family wasn’t a thing when we were kids. There were 3 girls (me, my sister and my mom) and 1 token dude… my dad. He was vetoed every time there was a game on. It was rare that he even got to have control of the TV. We’d nag him constantly and if we lost, we’d go play dress up and put on fashion shows during the game and waltz back and forth in front of the TV blocking his view. Daughters of the year award over here!

It’s funny how things have changed. Now I’m in it for the food. In fact, I even volunteer to have people over for just about every game that anyone cares about because it’s an excuse to throw together a menu and break out the snacks. Since we’re up in Seattle half the time these days, and my parents live there, I’m basically voluntarily doing pay back for my dad. He’s not picky when it comes to the menu, just plenty of things to nosh on, a few beers in the fridge and ALL THE DIPS! All it takes is a quick trip to the market which is never a bad thing because hello 2% cash back at grocery stores with my Capital One Savor® card and the rest is simple!

Here’s my go-to menu for our family game day festivities!

Guacamole. Duh.

Spinach Dip. Mandatory

Caramelized Onion Dip. Too good to be true.

Freshly Popped Popcorn with a homemade infused butter (I used my All Things Meat seasoning with a few tablespoons of melted butter and tossed it all together for a perfect flavor!

And you guessed it… no party is complete at the What’s Gaby Cooking household without a giant cheeseboard. I took a nod from this one I did last year and it was demolished before the game was over!

And – bonus – if you’re like me, the last thing you want to do after hosting a game day is cook dinner. So, grab the clan and order takeout with the Savor card’s new Postmates Unlimited delivery perks – through December 2019 your Postmates Unlimited order will earn 4% cash back. Just like that 4% cash back on dining that I’ve been obsessing over the past year.

  1. Gaby, I do t know what I’d do without you!! Question for you on cheese board.. my cheese/meats seems to absorb on the “flavor” of the wood board. I’ve used multiple kinds. Any thoughts on preventing this? Thank you in advance!

  2. Yup, game day is definitely only about the food for me! And now that we’re going to the super bowl again, I think this epic cheeseboard is in order!
