Cookbooks galore + a giveaway

Greetings from 10,000 feet up in the air. Okay, so I don’t really know how high up in the sky I am, but I’m heading home to Los Angeles after a great trip to NYC. One of my favorite parts about this trip was getting to meet so many new and fabulous people who have gorgeous cookbooks.

I’m a little bit of a cookbook fanatic. They all live on a special bookcase, dedicated to cookbooks, in my living room. And obviously they are color coordinated. I mean it only makes sense to color coordinate your cookbooks right? I color coordinate my closet, so what’s wrong with doing it all over the house.

This past week I found a bunch of new books that have already been ordered and will hopefully be arriving within the next 24 hours. Gotta love Amazon Prime 🙂

So here they are! And because I’m so jazzed about these kick ass cookbooks, I’m hosting a giveaway! One lucky What’s Gaby Cooking winner gets to pick whichever book they want and I’ll have it shipped right to you to join your own cookbook collection! Just leave a comment here telling me which book sounds like your new favorite! Contest closes Friday at Midnight PST.

So… here goes… my latest favorite cookbooks…

The Newlywed Cookbook  by Sarah Copeland

Serve Yourself by Joe Yonan

Chewy Gooey Crispy Crunchy Melt-in-Your-Mouth Cookies by Alice Medrich

Ripe: A Fresh, Colorful Approach to Fruits and Vegetables by Cheryl Sternman Rule

Cook This Now: 120 Easy and Delectable Dishes You Can’t Wait to Make by Melissa Clark

The Glorious Pasta of Italy by Domenica Marchetti

So let me know which one looks like your favorite! And I’ll announce the winner this weekend 🙂

*Full disclosure* I’m hosting this giveaway with me, myself and I. And I linked to the books via amazon because that was easiest. I don’t have an amazon affiliate account or anything like that. Just wanted to make life easy for you guys ’cause you’re awesome!

Update!! Thanks to everyone who entered! I wish I could send you all books but there’s just one winner today! Congratulations to #17 Caroline @ chocolate & carrots!!

To claim your book, just email me at whatsgabycooking@gmail.com and I’ll send it off right away 🙂 xo

  1. My initial thought was Ripe, but I love the title Fried Chicken and Champagne. So creative. And a beautiful cover!

  2. I also just returned from New York. The cookbook I bought on this trip was the Sucre book from Laduree. I think I’m in heaven. I’m fascinated by all your books but especially the cookie book. Do you think that means I’ve been dieting too long?

  3. I think the Newlywed Cookbook sounds fun as that is in my near future! I love cookie with my honey!

  4. Fried CHicken and CHampagne please!!! I love chicken and waffles….but chicken and champagne might be my new best friends.

  5. Wow.. the Cook This Now: 120 Easy and Delectable Dishes You Can’t Wait to Make by Melissa Clark one looks fantastic. Though I also love pasta so so much. *shrug* I love them all 😉

  6. The Newlywed Cookbook! My husband and I were married last November and enjoy cooking together almost every night! Nothing is better 🙂

  7. I would love “Ripe”. I am looking forward to cooking with more fruits and vegetables. So healthy!

  8. Ripe would be my pick! It looks like a fabulous book with unique flavor combinations that bring out the best in fruits and veg.

  9. I would love to have the Fried Chicken and Champagne Cookbook by Lisa Dupar. It just sounds wonderful and bonus, she has a restaurant here in the Pacific Northwest!

  10. The cooky book looks mighty fine, but I have some friends getting married at the end of month who’d like the newlywed game.

  11. fried chicken and champagne. I love southern food. Reading about the bood and reading the reviews has me wanting this book.

  12. I would love to win the “Cook This Now: 120 Easy and Delectable Dishes You Can’t Wait to Make” cookbook.

  13. Oh, my gosh, I WANT to say Ooey Gooey Crispy Crunchy because that cookie looks so darn delicious, but I really want to dive into the platter of past on The Glorious Pasta of Italy!

Thanks for the fun reviews and links

  14. Newlywed Cookbook! I’m getting married in June and need lots of help (I am a long way from “Domestic Goddess”….)

  15. Ripe: A Fresh, Colorful Approach to Fruits and Vegetables looks amazing! I am obsessed with veggies and am always looking for unique and delicious ideas!

  16. I love cookbooks! I would pick Ripe because I love fruits and veggies but don’t have a book dedicated to them!

  17. I would love the Newlywed cookbook since I recently got married and need more ideas on things to cook.

  18. Serve Yourself looks perfect for me! Just recently got divorced after 20 years and when the kids are with the ex, I never cook. This book would be perfect so I can enjoy a delicious meal by myself! They all looked great – I am sure my kids would the cookie book…Thank you for the giveaway.

  19. The obvious choice based on the cover and name would have been Fried Chicken and Champagne by Lisa Dupar. Seriously? Talk about a happy meal! I may need to have that combo some weekend. But, alas, after a thorough review the winner is Cook This Now: 120 Easy and Delectable Dishes You Can’t Wait to Make by Melissa Clark. The comment from Sassy Radish really nailed the decision for me – “The book is structured seasonally, month by month, making it really easy for those getting into seasonally inspired cooking…”. It just makes so much sense. Runner-up is Ripe: A Fresh, Colorful Approach to Fruits and Vegetables by Cheryl Sternman Rule. All three of these books are on my Amazon wishlist. Thanks so much for sharing these great finds and for the giveaway. Cheers!

  20. Since I am a Cajun Girl I would love to have Fried Chicken and Champagne although they all sound great. Thank you very much for this opportunity.

  21. I totally am so intrigued by “Serve Yourself”!!! I really love to cook but find myself settling for pre-made or takeout because it’s so difficult to just shop/cook for one.. Unless I’m not buying food! 🙂

I would love to win and really start to reinvent my life in the kitchen! So exciting!!

    Thank you so much!!
