Wine Tasting: Napa Valley

Jump to Recipe

Galavanting around Napa visiting different wineries and sampling lots of fabulous varietals is basically one of my favorite pastimes.

I hopped up to Napa quite a bit when I lived in the Bay Area, and now I don’t get up there nearly enough. But trust me, when i’m there, I LOVE it!!

Wine tasting is just plain fun. Grab a group of your closest friends and hit the road! Book a wine tour bus so you don’t have to worry about driving, throw on a cute bright and cheerful outfit and hit the road.

This past time I was in Napa, I was fortunate enough to visit 3 amazing wineries. They were each fascinating, but one of my favorites was Round Pond.

Round Pond is a gorgeous winery with a big fabulous estate in the middle. They do by appointment wine tastings and even better, olive oil tasting! Say what? Genius right? The group and I went for lunch and had the opportunity to sample numerous wines, a handful of olive oils, handmade vinegars, and citrus infused syrups that would make you beg for more.

It was the picture perfect winery. Lunch was a bed of fresh grown greens from the Round Pond farm, topped with various vegetables, cold cuts, cheese and then I made a vinaigrette out of their meyer lemon olive oil and their signature Red Wine Vinegar.

It was light, simple and perfect. A great compliment to our wines. And then it was all tied up with a perfect piece of cake drizzled with a combination of their house made syrups. Heck yes.

I’d love to take my girlfriends back for a fun girls weekend. Or my soon to be husband! But trust me when I tell ya, this is one winery that is not to be missed while you are in Napa!
