Obsessed // Blue Apron

I’ve been car-less in LA for just under 2 years now. I have a super spiffy red bike with a matching helmet that gets me to and from most all of my meetings and errands. It’s been a dream – but there are 2 major downfalls to not having a car. 1… you can’t sing at the top of your lungs on a bike while you’re riding around like you would in a car. It’s a real problem. People will look at you funny. 2 – grocery shopping isn’t as easy as it used to be. I find myself at the market a LOT, usually once a day or every other day stocking up on a few things here and there that I can handle carrying home on my bike. It’s a pain in the butt for those 2 reasons – but I still hate driving and waiting for valet, so I’m stuck where I am for the moment.

2 weeks ago Blue Apron sent me their 2-Person Plan dinner kit which was surprisingly easy! Total transparency, I haven’t done a lot of meal delivery programs in the past but it was amazing to have a box show up on my doorstep with 3 nights of dinner ingredients ready to be chopped, cooked and consumed. I wouldn’t be mad if every week looked like that!

Each night was wildly different than the last – like 3 very unique meals that were delicious, easy to prepare and quick. Last week consisted of Spicy Orange Chicken Wings, Steak Tacos and Vegetarian Quiches that were served with a butter lettuce salad. (ps the lettuce felt like it was picked that morning from the farm!) The steak tacos were amazing and consumed with lightening speed – plus there was avocado on them! YES! The chicken wings were fantastic and super flavorful. I literally licked my plate clean. And the vegetarian quiches were so good I wanted them to magically appear the next day for breakfast!

So like I said, nothing repetitive from night to night which is lovely for my husband as he isn’t into the same thing over and over and over again. Each meal was roughly 500-700 calories per person and delish! And they have HUNDREDS of recipes to choose from!

So would I do it again? Yes. Would I recommend it to someone who loves food? Yes. Did I make Thomas cook and try and teach him deal with dinner? Abso-freaking-lutely! It’s a dream for someone like me trying to get their husband in the kitchen. Everything comes pre-portioned, all that’s needed is some prep work and then the ability to read and follow directions. Both of which Thomas is fully capable of doing and then dinner was on him! Basically the best week of my life.

  1. Sometimes I dream bout Pete making me dinner- this is probably the only way it would happen! everything looks good!

  2. A co-worker clued me in on Blue Apron. I like that it comes with everything but oil and salt and pepper! Nothing more frustrating than not being able to find the ingredients for a recipe or having to visit multiple stores to get everything!

  3. Totally JUST got a coupon in the mail for Blue Apron so after this post, I am definitely interested! <3
