Today’s quite an exciting day!
One of my dear dear friends, Catherine, you might know her from Weelicious, is coming out with her 2nd cookbook Weelicious Lunches! And I think we should celebrate by giving some away don’t you think?
Weelicious Lunches is PACKED with recipes that will literally make your kids lunches the envy of everyone around. These are simple, delicious and healthy recipes that please not only kids… but adults too! I’ve already put in my order with Catherine so I can start picking up my lunches every morning. It’s happening. I’ll even bring my own lunch box.
Let’s take a peek inside shall we?
These grilled cheese croutons are a MUST!
Or how about this world’s greatest pb&j!! heck yes – any kid would love this! And you could sub out any of your fav nut butters if needed.
I mean, pizza balls!! Is there anything we can even say about these? They are freaking awesome.
banana dog bites for the win!
and then there’s the homemade chocolate hazelnut spread. I’m literally drooling.
Bottom line. We all need this book, regardless if we have kids or not! I mean, I’m seriously going to start sending Thomas to work with some of these ideas from Catherine.
So, in honor of such an exciting day, I voted and and the results are in. I guess there really aren’t any other opposing votes to count since it’s just me, but whatever… details shmeetails. Let’s give away some books!
Leave a comment on this post letting me know what you used to eat for your school lunches and you’re automatically entered! I’ll pick 3 winners and we’ll send you you book ASAP. Contest goes through Friday September 6th just before midnight!
Ready, set, go!
My son is a picky eater and eats so little…I have to constantly think of ways to pack in what nutrition i can into what he eats, so he gets some vitamins atleast…this book looks like it will take a lot of the guesswork away..
Sandwiches and juice box 🙂
I loved salami sandwiches, chicken nuggets, and lunchables!
I used to eat sandwiches galore and school lunches (which I do not want for my boys). Thanks for doing this. If I don’t win I plan to buy this book anyway. Looks awesome!
oh gosh, it was almost always sandwiches: ham and cheese, or tuna, or my favorite back then, deviled ham mixed w/Cheez Wiz! lol my mom always threw in a frozen grape juice drink, and if i was lucky, a Ding Dong. 🙂
We are south asian and cold cuts are not typically eaten in our culture. My mom discovered cold cuts when we moved to Canada and thought they were raw…so she would cook bologne, turkey meat etc on the pan and then make sandwiches out of it. So guess who ate hard hot cold cut meat sandwiches for lunch….I didn’t mind…because I didnt know better either at the time…lol
My school lunch was shaved ham, on a bun, with mustard, an apple and a juice box. Every. Day. All carried in a bread bag that usually had not been emptied of the crumbs from the bread so that my apple had dried/stale bread bits on the outside that I had to wipe off. Every. Day.
Whatever they were serving in the cafeteria.
Turkey and cheese sandwich and probably Dorittos
I always had some sort of sandwich, whether it was peanut butter and jelly or ham. I’m glad we’ve got lots of resources available today for new inspiration, I like to give my kids a variety when it comes to their lunches.
I remember my Mom ALWAYS packing a wonder bread sammy with Best Food’s mayo, Skippy and lettuce!!
Sounds utterly gross…but it was yummy when I was hungry….I mostly did the hot lunch fare….which I did not mind….except for the cubed beets!….Remember FONDLY the peanut butter bars the cafeteria churned out once a week (Friday?)…and I would love to replicate those if anyone out there has the recipe….No chocolate involved…but those rectangles were amazing and chewy.
I did fun bentos for my own tribe…and beurre/saucisson plus fruit and veggie sticks for my kids!
Think I was a slightly different kid since I ate peanut butter sandwich with pickles one day and tuna with onion the next..Come to think of it I’m still alittle differnent but now I’m glad I am!
I remember fruit roll ups! Those were the best!
When I was in elementary and middle school my dad always made me whatever he could from the garden. I was always taking carrots, sugar snap peas, corn cut from the cob, and, my favorite, Caesar salad with romaine fresh from our yard. My friends would come to my house and that’s what they’d want for supper, my dads Caesar salad! I’d love to make lunch as healthy and exciting for my son as my dad often made it for me!
My mom always packed me a turkey sandwich on wheat with an apple and carrot sticks. I remember being insanely jealous of the kids who got chips, packaged cookies, and fruit snacks. I know better now, but I try to be conscious of making my sons lunch fun and interesting so he doesn’t experience the same thing. Catherine and Weelicious has helped me so much in accomplishing this.
I used to eat butter sandwiches with fruitroll ups on the side. Makes me kind of sick thinking about it now, lol.
I ate pb&j. 90%of the time while growing up with pickles and carrots which never seemed to last through lunch
I was the “weird” kid who ate raw vegetable at lunch, but I loved them! I would get super excited when my mom would pack me a lunch from the local deli- salami on rye with chocolate rugelach for dessert!
Lots of different sandwiches and sometimes soup in a thermos.
Yeppp, lunchables were the thing. But sometimes, I used to have cream cheese and jelly sandwiches. MY FAVORITE! (:
I would eat carrots. Just carrots. I was on a mission to get that orange tint in my skin by eating enough carrots, though I never think I quite got there.
I used to eat tortilla chips and ham and cheese sandwiches almost every day! It seems so boring now!!
I loved cheddar cheese on Melba toast!
Like most kiddies, PB&J! I still enjoy this once in a while on toast.
I grew up in México so my lunches included things like jicama and cucumbers with lime, salt, and chili or sliced hotdogs with lime and Maggie sauce.
I strictly ate turkey sandwiches, and always hoped I was lucky enough to get an oatmeal cookie sandwich and a note from my mom!
Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches every.day. Ugh… And I wonder why lunch is my least favorite meal of the day!?
Always had to buy school lunch, my mom never packed or cooked for us. I have always packed lunches for my husband and my kids – and still do. Kids just started college, but are working multiple jobs so they grab and run. Some new ideas are welcome. Thank you!
Tuna fish sandwiches
Ok have you ever heard of peanut butter and Jelly mixed in one Jar…Gobber Grape….yep I ate it everyday for years! Yikes!
I didn’t really eat lunch.. I refused to eat the nasty school lunches and much preferred an extra 15 minutes of sleep to a lunch.. I don’t want my kids to be like that though..
I ate school lunches, and by high school that ended up being a cookie and milk. I would like my kids to have nutritious lunches that they enjoy eating. Catherine’s book looks awesome! My kids would enjoy her recipes, and I would be happy with what they are eating!
Mom home baked bread and made us delicious samu
In high school it was subway sandwiches every day.
I used to eat bologna sandwiches for lunch. I have never given my son (age 2) bologna.
Can’t wait to see the new book!
Buttered bread then spread with peanut butter and jelly. Ugh.
I used to eat lots of sandwiches for lunch, nothing fancy. My son loves pbj, he could eat it everyday! I’d like to add some variety for him!
I ate baked potatoes with broccoli and cheese on it!!!
I used to eat the same thing EVERY day for years! Turkey and cheese sandwich on wheat bread, chips, and baby carrots. Healthy I guess…
I used to eat peanut butter sandwiches every day for lunch! No jelly because I used to hate it when I was a kid!
I have recollections of chef-boy-ar-dee still in the can and lots of bagged popcorn. And the red wax cheese (which my daughter actually likes quite a bit – I try to keep the rest of the stuff a bit more healthy than what I had though!).
My mom used to pack great, varied lunches and then I got to high school and would eat Pizza Hut breadsticks or Dairy Queen Blizzards when we went out…so unhealthy!
I remember that in grade school I ate PB&J sandwiches everyday for what seemed like forever!
Sandwiches all the way. Occasionally my mom would pack us some dim sum or fried rice but we pretty much had sandwiches of all varieties. Tuna, egg, PB&J, tomato, cheese… you name it. Probably why I still love a good sandwich now.
i bring rice, vegetables, and fish for my lunch
I bring rice, chicken, and vegetables for my lunch :-)i
In Junior high, I bought corn nuts and pink lemonade from the school store. Bad! In elementary I ate school lunches. 🙂
I seem to remember eating Cup O Noodles a lot for lunch growing up.
I remember eating tons of sandwiches: vegetarian, eanut butter and jelly. I I’ve the new fresh ideas for school lunches.
I remember eating bologna and cheese sandwiches, chips, fruit and a drink.
