Foodbuzz Festival

Wow – what a weekend! The first annual Foodbuzz Festival was a total success, everything was delicious, the people were amazing and I officially gained 21.56 pounds over the course of 48 hours! The entire weekend was devoted to food and wine and I got to meet some fabulous new food blogger friends and hang out with some of my favorites too!

The weekend started with a trip to the Mission District to go to Pizzaria Delfina and Bi-Rite Creamery with ActiveFoodie, ChezUs, Fuji Mama, Gourmeted, and EatItTweetIt!

I didn’t snap any pics of the actual pizza – I think we were all so hungry all we wanted to do was eat!

I think I might have to move back to San Francisco just for Bi-Rite! o.m.g. all of the flavors were delicious – the salted caramel, the snickerdoodle, apple pie… I could and would have eaten every single flavor if I had more time!

I eventually opted for the Cookies and Cream and Snickerdoodle combo… amazing!

After stuffing my face with pizza and ice cream we headed back to the Hotel Vitale for cocktail hour and then over to the Ferry Building for 10 billion calories worth of deliciousness. It was heaven.

I am fairly certain that Sonja, from Active Foodie, and I hit up every single truck and cocktail booth – it was pretty awesome.

Pizza Politana – they had they wood fire oven on site!

These mini Mushroom Tarts were fantastic!

This was another life changing sandwich – I ditched the bread and went right for the goodness in the middle!

The Pie Truck had the most UNBELIEVABLE Steak and Gruyere Pies – literally they were life changing.

After consuming all things pictured above and cupcakes, ice cream, tacos, and drink I rolled myself out of there to mentally and physically prepare for the next day!

Saturday morning we started at the Ferry Building again and had breakfast at Miette. I picked the healthiest options on the menu, Caramel Panna Cotta and a Brownie! And then we all samples each others pastries and it was a happy moment.

The Chocolate Pot de Creme was phenomenal and was the Caramel Panna Cotta – I could have stopped right there and been happy but what fun is that… But I had to try Sharffen Berger Mini Cake… And the Lemon Tart…

I mean, I would have been doing myself a disservice if I had passed up that opportunity!

Next we headed up to the Cowgirl Creamery Cheese Tasting session… probably one of my favorite parts of the day, mostly because I am obsessed with cheese, and I tried to steal this 25 lb cheese circle… they caught me on the way out.

All of the cheeses were exceptionally delicious! I have decided that I am going to learn how to make cheese… I mean I eat enough of it… it would be cool to make my own. I’ll keep you posted on my progress.

After the cheese tasting we headed over for a Sparkling Wine Tasting… this is where it got ugly. Not only was there 4 large glasses of different sparkling wines, but then there was regular wine, and food, and beer, and more wine and by the time it was 2pm it is safe to say that I was tipsy. Sidenote – and this is a huge breakthrough – FoodWoolf is officially the only person on this planet who has made me try a beer that I actually liked. Its a pretty big deal… and so is she!

Now I will leave you with this… lots and lots of bubbly!

Esi and I from Dishing Delights were very proud to have blindly picked the most expensive sparkling wine as our favorite… its just the way we roll!

And now I am back in Los Angeles… and on a strict fruit and raw vegetables only diet for the next 3 days to let my body recover from this weekend. Foodbuzz rocks for putting this all together! It was amazing. Fun. Delicious. And next year is going to be even more fun!

  2. Oh how cool. I so wish I could have been there! Looks like a great time!

P.S. The salted caramel ice cream – that is the one I would not have been able to resist!

  3. Hi Gaby, I’m sorry I wasn’t at the event to meet you and share in all the fun. It sounds like you hit some of the best spots for local goodies – well done!

I love Miette Caramel Panna Cotta, too! Isn’t their stand adorable?

I’m so glad you had a great time. I look forward to joining in next year (assuming I don’t have another screenwriting seminar on the same weekend again – doh!)

    Cheers!

  4. That looks like a lot of fun, and everything thing looks so good I wish I could have been there to try all of that food!

  5. Looks like you “scooped” everyone else with the first report from SF. I regret not being able to go and I would have loved to have shared food, drink and make so many new friends. Here’s to 2010!

  6. Oh I am so jealous of all of you that got to go! I spotted Erika behind you in the picture of you with the big cheese…or are you the big cheese? LOL

    Well, there’s always next year!

  7. SO jealous of your yummy adventures there! Wish I could have been there. You would have been fighting me off of that 25 lb. cheese. Cowgirl Creamery is one of my very favorites!!

  8. I wish I would have gone to this one too. It seemed like more (better) food and booze then Blogher. Next year I’ll go if it’s in Sanfran again. Finger’s crossed!
