Food Bloggers Bake Sale

Jump to Recipe

By now you might have heard the big news I have been trying to keep under wraps – well I haven’t really done the best job of keeping it a secret because I am just so excited to start planning and sharing the news!

About 5 months ago I was sitting around my apartment (well to tell the truth I was in the shower… but those are minor details) when I had this fabulous idea to have a Nation-wide Food Bloggers Bake Sale. I had just returned form the Blogher Food Conference in San Francisco and had met so many amazing and delightful food bloggers who shared the same passion as me… food… obviously! Well, it turns out a ton of them also have really big hearts and I decided to take it upon myself and organize an event that combines both food and helping others! The result of which is the first annual National Food Bloggers Bake Sale!

What is this you ask? Well, you can find the latest up to date information on the event at the Bake Sale page. But to sum it up… on the same day, April 17th 2010, we are holding a real live bake sale in all 50 states across the country! We have teamed up with Share Our Strength to kick off the Great American Bake Sale season with this event and all proceeds from the day of will go to them and will help to feed hungry children all over America!

It is super easy to get involved! Just check out the list of states that already have a leader and get in touch with them to sign up for your state. If you live in a state that doesn’t have a leader yet you can either volunteer to head up your state or keep checking back as most states will have leaders very very soon. If you have any other questions you can email me at whatsgabycooking {at} gmail {dot} com and I can fill in any blanks or lingering questions you might have!

  1. I am thrilled with your idea. This will be my third year doing the Great American Bake Sale with Share our Strength, and it gets more and more exciting (and successful) each time around. Tapping into the generous and very public nature of food bloggers is a perfect way to get the word out. It couldn’t get much better – cooking to raise funds to feed the hungry. Thank you!

  2. Gaby – Great job putting this all together. I’m sure it’s been a lot of hard work & creativity – great plans though! And I’m so honored to be a part of it.

  3. Just heard about this event – how wonderful!!
I would love to be a part of it…I sent a note to the 2 in PA to see if they are anywhere near me. I am 30 minutes North of Philly.

Thnaks for doing this…I love doing RAOK – and this is just one in an organized approach on a huge level!!

    Great job!!

  4. This is my first year participating in the food bloggers bake sale and I couldn’t be more excited. I’m part of the Chicago group and was contacted by Maris. I’m thrilled she found me. I hope this event raises tons of money to feed hungry children. Good works and good luck!
