We’re just a few days away from the re-designed What’s Gaby Cooking and I’m bringing you yet another new feature a few days early. We’re talking bucket lists!!

Bucket List Travel / Doubtful Sound New Zealand

Here’s the thing about bucket lists – so often people think they are going to break the bank, but the truth is I’m about 15 months away from turning 30 and I have some serious travel plans to cross of my list RIGHT NOW! While there are tons of different places I’d love to visit / aka my list is about a mile long…. New Zealand is right smack at the top.

My parents went without me a few months back (rude / I still haven’t recovered from the jealousy) but after seeing their photos, I’m already planning my adventure! Between the food, wine, culture and adventure, it’s basically a one-stop shop for my kinda travel. A healthy dose of adventure, gorgeous luxury accommodations and a ton of delicious eats. What more could you possible ask for? If you don’t hear from me for a few days, it’s because I’m building my dream itinerary and packing.

Take a peek at the video below and my parents photos and tell me you don’t want to pack your bags and jet off right this very second!!! PS, I’ve done all the heavy lifting for you and flights for this extravaganza on Air New Zealand are currently right around $1k from the US.

  1. Hey Gaby- I hope you come over to NZ soon- I live in Dunedin, way at the bottom of the South Island! All I can stress to any potential travellers is that you should try to see as much of the country as possible! There is beauty and adventure to be found all around New Zealand, from the tip of the North Island, to the very bottom of the South. Hope you have fun planning your trip 🙂

  2. I went to New Zealand in January and it was awesome. I particularly liked two weeks of summer in January. I only went to North Island, but I only had two weeks. I met up with my Kiwi friends who showed me some of the delights of Wellington, including a fabulous restaurant called the Chocolate Fish. I also enjoyed being a hobbit for a few hours at the movie set and visiting Waitomo caves. I can hardly wait to go back. You must go asap, totally worth the long flights from the UK.

    1. Seeing the hobbit setup is totally what I’d like to do as well! And eat my belly full of Kiwi’s. And actually 1000 bucks for a flight to New Zealand does not sound too crazy to me, I don’t think you can even fly to Alaska for Hawaii for that price nowadays. Now, who can I stay with in New Zealand? Just kidding!!!

  3. New Zealand is definitely on our bucket list. It’s such a great destination for adventure travelers. We have such a long list of things we want to do and see there, that it’s going to be hard to narrow it down to a manageable itinerary once we eventually plan that trip!

  4. I want to go!! It looks absolutely stunning – and I can see why you were jealous of your parents! Officially added to my bucket list, now.

  5. How absolutely beautiful! New Zealand is on our bucket list! We touched down in New Zealand on our way to Australia, but I definitely need to spend more time there and explore. $1K is a BARGAIN for flights! Way to go Air New Zealand.
