Best Fall Cookbooks

Jump to Recipe

So. Let me paint you a picture. A few weeks back when I should have been making pretty things for my wedding and baking cookies to put into gift bags for our guests, I decided I should check out Amazon and see what kind of cookbooks were due to come out this fall. Little did I know that I basically added every other book to my shopping cart and spent 2 hours reading about the fabulous cooks that are publishing books in the next few months.

I’m jazzed to say the least. Now that the wedding planning is over, and I can eat whatever I want again because I don’t need to fit into my dress, I’m so excited to get back into the kitchen and cook up a storm!

So, here’s the deal. I picked my 10 most favorite titles that are due out this fall. Some of them were just released, and others are coming out in the next month or so. And I love each and every one of them. And can’t wait to get my hands on them too! And I feel like you should have them too. So let’s do a little giveaway shall we? Just peruse the books that are below, and pick your most favorite one or the one that looks the most like you, leave a comment telling me which cookbook is totally your jam and when I get back from my honeymoon on September 10th, I’ll pick 3 winners and mail ya the books of your choice!!

Sound good?

Okay go!

Here’s the deal. I love Aida. She is one heck of an amazing person and a dear dear friend of mine. So you should totally have her book. Not to mention her recipes are spot on and I’m not just saying that. I was cooking her recipes way before we were friends. And I trust her recipes to a T!

Weelicious: 140 Fast, Fresh, and Easy Recipes by Catherine McCord

Have a family? Look no further. Catherine, another wonderful friend of mine, has got ya covered! Her recipes will please even the pickiest eater and turn them into an adventurous one! Plus she’s gorgeous. So it’s another must have!

Don’t mind me while I disappear into this book for the next 3 months. It’s another gorgeous book with to die for recipes! With 3 generations of recipes going into this book, it’s sure to be a winner in your kitchen!

Jerusalem: A Cookbook

I’m obsessed with Yotam. I’m pretty sure if we met in real life we would be great friends. I mean, I love all of his food, so I would just assume that we’d be friends in real life too. Don’t ya think? 🙂 His last cookbook, Plenty, was the inspiration behind so many of my pre-wedding meals. His food is clean, healthy and always flavorful! I can’t wait to dig into his latest!

The Sprouted Kitchen: A Tastier Take on Whole Foods

Based on one of my all time favorite blogs, this cookbook dives into the whole grains, whole foods and whole lotta vegetables. Plus the photography is breathtaking!

The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook

I mean, who doesn’t know Deb and her fab recipes!! I can’t wait to get this one into my hot little hands and start cooking and baking up a storm a la Deb!

Hugo Ortega’s Street Food of Mexico

I think I was meant to spend half of the year in Mexico. I’m just obsessed with Mexican cuisine. (I mean, guacamole in particular – but I love everything else too!) This cookbook, by Hugo Ortega just screamed my name when I came across it on Amazon. I think a street food adventure in Mexico sounds like something I was meant to do!

True Food: Seasonal, Sustainable, Simple, Pure

Have you guys ever been to True Food Kitchen? It’s one of my favorite restaurants here in Santa Monica. Want to know why? Because the food is fabulous and you actually leave feeling good! You’re not weighed down in greasy foods or stuffed to the brim with oversized portions. It’s just perfect. And this book is going to fit perfectly in my kitchen.

The Picky Palate Cookbook

Have you guys had those life changing oreo stuffed chocolate chip cookies? Well, those are the genius brainchild of my friend Jenny Flake!! And she’s got a new book to go along with her fabulous blog! Jenny’s recipes are fun, playful, delicious and totally good for families! And the photos are gorgeous. Especially because my BFFs, Matt Armendariz and Adam Pearson did the photography and food styling! I worked on set as a food styling assistant too… and let me tell ya, I taste tested each recipe after it came from from it’s beauty shot. Soooo good!

And last, but certainly not least, let’s end with something super sweet from my girl Shauna, she’s a total doll! 🙂 With recipes like Honey-Vanilla Granola Clusters, Vanilla Sea Salt Caramels, and Vanilla Mojitos, I think this is going to fit perfectly into my cookbook collection!

Eryn “What a tough pick, those all look amazing. I’d love Muy Bueno for the Mexican side of my family & Jerusalem: A Cookbook for the Israeli side of my family! You should then come over for a potluck, our food is amazing. ;) Congratulations on your wedding. I will give you the advice that was given to me on my wedding day, by my favorite aunt: Love each other deeply. Even when it’s difficult, just love each other deeply. It will carry you through anything that comes your way.”

Ashley @ Wishes for Dishes “I would love Picky Palate cookbook! I am a picky eater, after all :)

  1. I wouldn’t even know where to start…Street Food of Mexico but then i’d have to get distracted and fall into Smitten Kitchen because I love her blog. I “met” her blog through her gateau de crepes and I never looked back. Then again, Pure Vanilla?
Any one of these 10 would make me happy!!!

  2. Food is one of the great connectors of people and culture. It’s one of the things that invokes great memories and connections and friendships. So what could be better than a book on street food from the great culture to our south. Street Food of Mexico sounds perfect for just that kind of experience….invite your friends to share a meal with a story and they’re guaranteed to remember it.

  3. Wow, tough choice! The Sprouted Kitchen cook book, Smitten Kitchen, and Jerusalem are my top pics. If I had to choose just one of those (probably I’ll end up buying all three…) I think I’d go with Sprouted Kitchen. I’m seeing so many beautiful recipes from it popping up on the blogosphere, and I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy of my own! I hope you’ve had an amazing honeymoon!!!

  4. I would love to have Weelicious…I am constantly making two dinners, one for the adults, and one for the kids. It has to stop!! 🙂

  5. True Food … sounds good. Simple … pure … natural … these are the words that come to mind. Since I’m a minimalist by nature, this books resonates with me. Would love to check it out !!

  6. “Pure Vanilla” sounds like a great cook book! I just bought 25 vanilla beans online, so I need some new recipes to try with them! 🙂

  7. Since I am a passionate nut about mexican food, I choose Muy Bueno: Three Generations of Authentic Mexican Flavor ….yum! thank you!

  8. The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook, it was the first food blog I ever followed or attempted recipes from so it will always have a special place in my kitchen.

  9. I’d love to have the Smitten Kitten Cookbook, thank you. I’m glad you’ve had fun in Florida. We spent the Labor Day weekend in Seaside Beach. We are native Floridians and can’t live without the humidity. Our falls are great here so come back soon!

  10. Oh Picky Palate or Smitten Kitchen both make my tummy growl no doubt. Enjoy this special and marking time in your life.
    You are blessed

  11. Oh my — All of these look so amazing! I’ve already pre-orderd the Smitten Kitchen cookbook. If you pick my name, I’ll have trouble deciding on 3, but I know I will….

  12. There were three which called my name, Jerusalem, Street Food of Mexico, and Pure Vanilla. But, having to just pick one, I would pick Jerusalem. I love cookbooks which have a heavy ethnic bent to them. Gastronomical delights!

  13. Oh my goodess, I want them all!! I guess if I would hav to choose though, the Keys to the Kitchen book would be a great one to have on hand!

  14. Ugh, too many choices for a total cookbook junkie like me. I love Picky Palate but Plain Vanilla and Weelicious look great too and of course I love smitten kitchen.

  15. The Pure Vanilla cookbook looks so good! I love making my own vanilla but can never come up with enough ways to use it.

  16. Gee whiz! A girl has to CHOOSE?!?!? I NEED True Food….. (But I want Muy Bueno and Smitten Kitchen!! I guess I’ll have to buy at least two either way, then, right?!?!? Dang that Amazon wish list…..)

  17. Why have you made this so hard?!?!? 🙂 It’s a tough choice between Picky Palate and Smitten Kitchen but, if forced to choose one…I have to go with Smitten Kitchen. Deb has never done me wrong so I’m certain I would wind up making and loving every single recipe in that book!

  18. Congratulations! Hope you’re having a blast on your honeymoon 🙂 I think Key’s to the Kitchen would be an outstanding read for me as I try to delve more into cooking often! Thanks!
