  1. When I was in school I used to eat raisin bread sandwiches with cream cheese and carrot sticks! Weelicious lunches look way better than what I had!

  2. Back in the day, it was sandwiches – lots of sandwiches: pb&j, bologna + mayo, turkey or ham. This book looks so fun – can’t wait to take a look at it!!

  3. OH jeez! Aside from Chef Boy-ar-Dee in a thermos …..sandwiches: tunafish, pb&J, bologna – and even….sardine! (Yes…that one makes you popular on the bus;)

  4. When I was little, I had a ding dong (loved the foil wrapping) cut carrots, cut tomatoes and always a sandwich on wheat. I was so embarrassed because none of the other kids had wheat bread – now almost ALL the kids at our school have wheat bread. I guess I was “in” before I knew I was ‘In” thanks to my parents.

  5. I struggle to find fun and nutritious lunches that aren’t processed. This book looks like the holy grail of kids lunch planning.

  6. My school lunches must not have been memorable enough. I did pack my sons lunches for the 13 years each of them attended school. They were picky eaters, so there lunch consisted of a ham sandwich, Capri Sun drink, small baggie of chips and maybe a cookie. Milk money was paid ahead.
Funny story, once my high school aged son’s ham sandwich caught the attention of the drug sniffing dog that made a surprise visit to the school. He was quite nervous trying to open his combination with a dog, State Police, principal and superintendent waiting.

  7. When I was little, I was a very picky eater. I remember having buttered hot dog buns for lunch! When I got older, I would eat a salami sandwich every day. Not very healthy!

  8. I hate to say it cause I’m a health freak now but my favorite lunches involved gushers or fruit by the foot! Mmmm I could have eaten the whole box, good thing my mom limited me because those are SO bad for you 🙁 oh well I was young and naive.

  9. I typically would buy my lunch at school. Hooray mystery meat! And I spent a year at a private school where lunch was whatever the local Luby’s had leftover from the previous day. Needless to say, my kiddo will eat better (I hope!).

  10. I hated it when the bread got soggy so I ate lunch meat and cheese separately. It was not good. Adult lunches (and my 16 mo old son’s lunches) are way better now (also, I got over my bread issues…)

  11. Sadly my favorite sandwich as a kid was 2 slices of Wonder Bread with one slice of white american cheese in the middle. That or Bologona and Ketchup sandwiches! Who would have thought I would grow up and become a foodie! Lucky for my kids I have severed them neither sandwich!

  12. When I was in high school, I was so freaked out by the cafeteria food that I usually ate a mixture of packaged snacks. Thank goodness I’ve learned to embrace whole foods and limit my intake of processed foods as I’ve gotten older.

  13. It was great that there was a cafeteria when I was in elementary and middle school; the food was actually good plus my mom worked. In high school I walked to the local burger place. I grew up in a very small town so could walk everywhere.

Thanks for the chance to win. My granddaughter is in VPK and takes her lunch so this is a perfect cookbook for her mom and dad. Packed lunches are so creative now!

  14. I can only remember having pb&j or tuna sandwiches everyday until high school, where there was an actual cafeteria and I could purchase lunch.

  15. I ate a lot of school food when I was a kid. My favorite was hoagie day and when they would make spaghetti and homemade rolls. It’s definately not the same. Those ladies got creative with what they got. I can remember zebra patties (salisbury steak patties with strips of cheese) and a ham patty sandwich made with ham loaf mix and the breaded. When I got to junior high, the food was no longer homemade and came out of large cans and such. And when I got older and out of school, I would miss those peanut butter bars. Packing was “not cool” and certainly no more than a sandwich and chips back then. Now I struggle for new ideas so when my daughter gets older, packing will still be ok with her. Thank you for the giveaway.

  16. Turkey sandwich on a bagel, yogurt and a piece of fruit or granola bar. FOR-EVER. I was difficult and refused to buy the gross school lunch!

  17. I used to eat bologna sandwich on white bread, cheetos, and Kool-Aid in my Thermos. In a metal lunch box, no insulation or cooling packs. After a few weeks, the lunch box took on a funky stench, then everything all tasted the same after that.

  18. My lunches consisted of a pb&j(always strawberry) or on rare occasion, turkey and miracle whip sandwiches, a baggie of doritos or cheetos(the balls were my favorite), and a juice box. Mom would put in the occasional treat. Totally unhealthy! Trying to do better with my kids.

  19. I used to love the french bread pizzas they would do at the school cafeteria!! Now I can’t imagine eating all of that grease and processed cheese!! I love the first Weelicious cookbook- I’m really crossing my fingers!!

  20. PB&J or Bolonga in elementary school and in Jr. High and H.S., usually cafeteria pizza and tater tots or whatever the hot lunch was. Looking back…yuck!

  21. I was making Lunchables before they were a big thing. Cheese, crackers and some deli meat were a big thing for me during high school when I realized that I didn’t have to eat the school lunch 🙂

  22. Always a sandwich, most often peanut butter and strawberry jam, or the occasional processed turkey and miracle whip. Also, a baggie of doritos or cheetos( the balls were my favorite) and a hi-c drink box. Mom would sometimes throw in a treat. Totally unhealthy! Trying to do better for my kids.

  23. I had to buy lunch in elementary school so I had pizza, gross meats, jello with “fruit” chunks, canned veggies, fries, and chocolate milk. YUCK! I want so much better for my kids!!

  24. So excited to see these. It’s so hard with in between kids. They see all their friends with lunchables etc and they have wheat sandwiches and wraps. I had a lot of bologna and PBJ. And bought on pizza day… Oh that was the best. Trying to stay the course for my boys against the current.

  25. I almost always ate school lunch. My favorite was chili day when the lunch ladies made homemade cinnamon rolls to go with it. 🙂
