It’s that time of year – time for to keep the freezer stocked with Christmas Mix so there’s a little somethin’ somethin’ on hand when the sweet tooth strikes. It’s Chex Christmas Mix and I am READY for it.

It once upon a time had a different name, but times change, we’re growing, learning and moving forward it’s only going to be referred to as Chex Christmas Mix from here on out. Also because we cannot control the way google terms show up in your search results, this might show up as something else but know that we are working every day to SEO Chex Christmas Mix. xx

Have you ever had Chex Christmas Mix? It goes by many names but bottom line – it’s delicious. In the Dalkin household growing up it was just plain old mix.  And Thomas frequently references Chex Christmas Mix when he needs a batch. Bottom line – doesn’t matter what you call it – it’s EVERYTHING.

It’s a sweet and salty snack made with a combination of cheerios, rice chex, wheat chex, pretzel sticks, M&M’s and white chocolate. Image trail mix on steroids – it’s EVERYTHING. My mom’s been making this mix for us for ages, especially during the holiday season because it’s just so gorgeous and festive. I like to make big batches of this and pack it up so I can give it out as gifts around this time of year! Also – FYI – it keeps super well in the freezer.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups Cheerios
  • 3 cups Rice Chex
  • 3 cups Wheat Chex
  • 2 cups Corn Chex
  • 1 cups Pretzel Sticks
  • 2-3 cups m&m’s
  • 24 oz White Chocolate plus an extra 4-8 oz if needed

Instructions

  • In a large bowl combine the Cheerios, Chex, Pretzels and m&m’s. Mix them up a bit, making sure that everything is evenly distributed.
  • Meanwhile, over a double boiler, melt the white chocolate according to the directions on the package.
  • Once the chocolate has melted and is a smooth consistency, drizzle the chocolate over the cereal mix and combine with a wooden spoon or hands. Make sure all the cereal is covered in chocolate. If you need to melt the extra white chocolate to cover all the mix then go right on ahead!
  • Once the entire batch has been combined, lay it out to dry on a large sheet of parchment or wax paper. Let dry for 1 hour so the chocolate is cooled and hard. Break it up into medium pieces and store in an airtight container in the fridge or freezer.

  1. OMG, I like it all. But most requested is my tiramisu, I use Chocolate Panatone instead of ladyfingers. BTW I had some of this Christmas Crack at a party last week… it’s awesome!

  2. I love having something fruity. Seeing everything is so rich and decadent at this time of the year. I’m planning on making a cranberry pear crisp with toasted coconut on top. Dessert of dreams.

  3. I hope I’m not too late to enter .. not sure what time this ends … I make Nut Goodie Bars every year for Christmas. I guess that would be my favorite holiday treat. That, or the hoe made cake doughnuts I make every year for the last 30-plus years.

  4. My mum’s fruit cake! It’s filled with rum and sultanas and almonds and is so deliciously moist! I love it!

  5. I love to make Snowballs, otherwise known as wedding cookies. Rolled in confectioner’s sugar, they look just like a snowball. Thank you for the giveaway and the opportunity to participate.

  6. Any thoughts on how long christmas crack stays “good” once it’s made?

Trying to figure out when to put it together to give out as gifts 🙂

    1. I keep it in the freezer for like a month! so as long as it’s stored in an airtight container until you gift it – it’s good to go!

  7. Hi there- I’m making the crack and am wondering if you mean white morsels not white chocolate? I bought all the ingredients and in the baking isle a 24 oz bag of Nestlé white morsels was on sale for $4.80 and each 3 oz bar of white choc was over $3. I got the morsels and am hoping that will work. Thank you and Happy Holidays!

    1. white morsels will totally work!! just melt them according to the package directions and you’re good to go!

  8. I LOVE this stuff!! A friend made it for me a few years ago and I’ve been hooked, but haven’t had time to make it yet this year!! I think my super-favorite holiday sweet treat is Martha Stewart’s Coconut Sandwich Cookies. Vanilla buttercream sandwiched between two coconut cookies, rolled in shredded coconut. I never miss out on making those each year!

  9. This was delicious! I’ve made it twice already. The second time I added green food coloring to the white chocalte as it melted.
