Jump to Recipe

So. Let me paint you a picture. A few weeks back when I should have been making pretty things for my wedding and baking cookies to put into gift bags for our guests, I decided I should check out Amazon and see what kind of cookbooks were due to come out this fall. Little did I know that I basically added every other book to my shopping cart and spent 2 hours reading about the fabulous cooks that are publishing books in the next few months.

I’m jazzed to say the least. Now that the wedding planning is over, and I can eat whatever I want again because I don’t need to fit into my dress, I’m so excited to get back into the kitchen and cook up a storm!

So, here’s the deal. I picked my 10 most favorite titles that are due out this fall. Some of them were just released, and others are coming out in the next month or so. And I love each and every one of them. And can’t wait to get my hands on them too! And I feel like you should have them too. So let’s do a little giveaway shall we? Just peruse the books that are below, and pick your most favorite one or the one that looks the most like you, leave a comment telling me which cookbook is totally your jam and when I get back from my honeymoon on September 10th, I’ll pick 3 winners and mail ya the books of your choice!!

Here’s the deal. I love Aida. She is one heck of an amazing person and a dear dear friend of mine. So you should totally have her book. Not to mention her recipes are spot on and I’m not just saying that. I was cooking her recipes way before we were friends. And I trust her recipes to a T!

Don’t mind me while I disappear into this book for the next 3 months. It’s another gorgeous book with to die for recipes! With 3 generations of recipes going into this book, it’s sure to be a winner in your kitchen!

Jerusalem: A Cookbook

I’m obsessed with Yotam. I’m pretty sure if we met in real life we would be great friends. I mean, I love all of his food, so I would just assume that we’d be friends in real life too. Don’t ya think? 🙂 His last cookbook, Plenty, was the inspiration behind so many of my pre-wedding meals. His food is clean, healthy and always flavorful! I can’t wait to dig into his latest!

The Sprouted Kitchen: A Tastier Take on Whole Foods

Based on one of my all time favorite blogs, this cookbook dives into the whole grains, whole foods and whole lotta vegetables. Plus the photography is breathtaking!

The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook

I mean, who doesn’t know Deb and her fab recipes!! I can’t wait to get this one into my hot little hands and start cooking and baking up a storm a la Deb!

Hugo Ortega’s Street Food of Mexico

I think I was meant to spend half of the year in Mexico. I’m just obsessed with Mexican cuisine. (I mean, guacamole in particular – but I love everything else too!) This cookbook, by Hugo Ortega just screamed my name when I came across it on Amazon. I think a street food adventure in Mexico sounds like something I was meant to do!

True Food: Seasonal, Sustainable, Simple, Pure

Have you guys ever been to True Food Kitchen? It’s one of my favorite restaurants here in Santa Monica. Want to know why? Because the food is fabulous and you actually leave feeling good! You’re not weighed down in greasy foods or stuffed to the brim with oversized portions. It’s just perfect. And this book is going to fit perfectly in my kitchen.

The Picky Palate Cookbook

Have you guys had those life changing oreo stuffed chocolate chip cookies? Well, those are the genius brainchild of my friend Jenny Flake!! And she’s got a new book to go along with her fabulous blog! Jenny’s recipes are fun, playful, delicious and totally good for families! And the photos are gorgeous. Especially because my BFFs, Matt Armendariz and Adam Pearson did the photography and food styling! I worked on set as a food styling assistant too… and let me tell ya, I taste tested each recipe after it came from from it’s beauty shot. Soooo good!

Pure Vanilla: Irresistible Recipes and Essential Techniques

And last, but certainly not least, let’s end with something super sweet from my girl Shauna, she’s a total doll! 🙂 With recipes like Honey-Vanilla Granola Clusters, Vanilla Sea Salt Caramels, and Vanilla Mojitos, I think this is going to fit perfectly into my cookbook collection!

Eryn “What a tough pick, those all look amazing. I’d love Muy Bueno for the Mexican side of my family & Jerusalem: A Cookbook for the Israeli side of my family! You should then come over for a potluck, our food is amazing. ;) Congratulations on your wedding. I will give you the advice that was given to me on my wedding day, by my favorite aunt: Love each other deeply. Even when it’s difficult, just love each other deeply. It will carry you through anything that comes your way.”

Ashley @ Wishes for Dishes “I would love Picky Palate cookbook! I am a picky eater, after all :)

  4. Definitely the Weelicious cookbook. I have been following Catherine’s site since I became a new mom 3 years ago and use her recipes all the time for my family. My son loves everything I make of hers. I get so many great ideas and love her easy and wholesome food approach. Would love to have her cookbook in my collection!!!

  5. I am so in love with veggies and color this year, and equally obsessed with Yotam. Never been more inspired by his cooking. So I gotta go with “Jerusalem: A Cookbook”.

  6. Aida book looks right up my alley: Aida Mollenkamp’s Keys to the Kitchen: The Essential Reference for Becoming a More Accomplished, Adventurous Cook. Becoming a better cook and cooking more interesting meals was a new year’s resolution of mine that I’m still working on. 🙂

  7. What a great giveaway! I would love to win the Jerusalem cookbook. The hopeful story behind the book, with Yotam from the Jewish side and Sami from the Arab side is so inspiring and I bet the recipes are amazing!

  8. They all sound so enticing but I have to go with “Jerusalem” because I fell in love with Yotam’s food with “Plenty”.
    Fingers crossed for sure.

  9. I want them all, I have yours on order and since I LOVE Mexican Food so I choose:
Hugo Ortega’s Street Food of Mexico
I love street food and if I had my way there would be some on every corner in Woodstock, Georgia!
I know, I know, wishful thinking but maybe one day!

  10. They are all standouts, but I truly yearn for Jerusalem. Ottolenghi is amazing and I would love to spend days cooking with him – in person preferably, but for now, I’ll settle for cooking with one of his books. PS – Congrats on your wedding and best wishes for a joyous honeymoon.

  11. Wow this is generous and confusing:)!!! I of course want all of these, they are all on my “going to buy” book list. But if I had to choose one right now, it would be Muy Bueno! Thank for the giveaway, and have a wonderful honeymoon.

  12. I would love to try out the Jerusalem one! I have been looking into cooking different cuisines and appreciating new flavors and foods!

  13. I would love to have so many of these but especially the Weelicious cookbook. I’m dying for more inspiration to feed my growing family healthy meals.

  14. My pick is Jerusalem. And why? Because Yotam Ottolenghi is a culinary genius! I’ve been working my way through Plenty and even featured it on my blog. I’m constantly amazed at the flavors and textures in his recipes. Am anxiously awaiting the release of Jerusalem. Can’t wait to see what he’s cooking up.

  15. I use to go to Cabo San Lucas once a year for an all girls vacation. A few of us have lost our job so, I haven’t been there in 4 years. I miss the hot weather and laying out by the pool but, what I missed most is the food. I would love to have the Mexican Street Food cookbook.

  16. I want them all! lol but I could narrow em down to two. I would love to have the Pure Vanilla Cookbook cause I love baking and finding good vanilla recipes. I also love Muy Bueno cookbook… my husband loves mexican food and out where we live we don’t have a good mexican restaurant so I think it would be awesome to make his mexican cuisine dreams come true! haha (:

  17. Wow. It’s a 4-way tie for me! Jerusalem or True Food or The Sprouted Kitchen or Pure Vanilla. I may have to buy them anyway!!

  18. This is a tough call but I have to go with Muy Bueno!
I happened upon their Fiesta Bruschetta recipe a few years ago, and somehow accidentally subscribed to the blog : ) After receiving a few e-mails I came to adore the unique recipes, with authentic ingredients and watched their online presence grow. I can’t wait to add this one to my cookbook collection and try the recipes!

  19. I have Pure Vanilla on my wishlist already being a huge fan of Vanilla. I was always the odd one out when I was a kid and would choose vanilla ice cream over chocolate!
However I really like the looks of the Weelicious and Picky Palate being a mom of two adorable girls who don’t always eat or even want to try what we’re having! I think I may be adding them to my wishlist!! ;0)
This is a great giveaway! Thank you!

  20. The Picky Palate Cookbook, for me. It was a hard choice between Picky Palate Cookbook and The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook, I love both o their blogs so much.

  21. Muy Bueno!! I have had my eye on that cookbook ever since I saw Matt’s video. Oh me, oh my! Love their blog, too. Have a fabulous honeymoon!!!

  22. I would have to go with Hugo Ortega’s cookbook. His restaurant is in Houston and everything he makes is fantastic. You will really enjoy his cookbook!

  23. The Sprouted Kitchen would be my favorite! I have been wanting to use more sprouts in my cooking…just don’t have many recipes or know how besides bean sprout.
