Our third stop on this #onlyinsouthamerica<\/a> adventure planted us right at the base of Machu Picchu at the Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel<\/a>.<\/h2>\n

Whoa. Where do I even start? Between the epic location at the base of one of the wonders of the world, the orchid sanctuary that lives on the premises, the black tea that\u2019s brewed on property, the spa, the pools, the quinoa dishes at dinner\u2026. It\u2019s hard to put my feelings about this portion of our trip\u00a0into words. It\u2019s an incredible experience that I\u2019d highly recommend to anyone.<\/p>\n

My parents are heading down next year and I\u2019ve already instructed them on a few things that will make their time at Machu Picchu exceed their\u00a0expectations. So many of you said you are\u00a0planning trips to Peru soon, including\u00a0Machu Picchu,\u00a0here is everything you need to know so you can\u00a0Machu Picchu like a pro:<\/p>\n

The Inkaterra<\/a> is hands down where you need to lay your head. But it\u2019s more than a place to sleep. They have guides on staff to take you on a specialized\u00a0tour of Machu Picchu! You\u2019ll wake up hours\u00a0before the sun and board a bus that will take you up to the top of the mountain. We didn\u2019t do the long hike up to the top because we were on a timeline, but if you\u2019re into walking\/hiking then you should wake up even earlier and do the assent by foot. But even if you opt for the bus route, you\u2019ll still have a tiny hike to get to the viewing area. Get ready for some epic photos – Machu Picchu is EVERYTHING! It\u2019s easy to spend a half day roaming the ruins and learning about the history and people that went into every detail. WHATEVER YOU DO – promise me that you’ll take the early wake up call and head up the mountain while it’s still dark. Sitting at the top and waiting for the sun to rise was beyond belief.<\/p>\n

Once you\u2019re back down the mountain, Inkaterra<\/a> has 2 restaurants that have you covered when it comes to breakfast, lunch and dinner. The quinoa dishes were delicious (and you guys, they have PINK QUINOA!) and the lomo saltado was not to be missed! Get ready for some Peruvian inspired recipes that will be showing up as early as next week! Inkaterra also has an afternoon cookie and tea service by the pool where you can sip on their home brewed teas. The black tea is one for the record books. I attempted to buy them out of stock when I was checking out, but there were only 2 packs of tea left. The day I run out will be a very sad day!<\/p>\n

The hotel is located at the base of the mountain and there is an incredibly beautiful orchid sanctuary right smack in the middle. Between that and everything I mentioned above, it was the most picturesque place on earth and I never wanted to leave. BONUS, they place a hot water container at the foot of your bed every night so you slip into the sheets to a nice little heated surprise!<\/p>\n
