Guess where we are right now?!? You’re about to find out. We set off for Surprise Vacation yesterday and my dad wrote a little guest post for all ya’ll explaining all the crazy clues… so read on to find out where we are…<\/em><\/h2>\n

To all of you who tried to solve the Surprise Vacation puzzle here goes!!!
\nHope you had some fun!
\nWe are going on a cruise of the Coastal Wilderness (Inside Passage) in Alaska<\/a>! So now the clues are EASY!!!!!!<\/p>\n

Here they are with the answers:<\/p>\n

Along the eastern\u00a0coast<\/b>, ruins to behold
\nSome cities, some towns, so quaint and so old.<\/p>\n

The rugged\u00a0wildness<\/b>\u00a0of life
\nSuch beauty, such magic, such strife.<\/p>\n

Inside<\/b>\u00a0we go, away from the beach and away from the bold
\nTo\u00a0pass<\/b>\u00a0the time, for ages untold.<\/p>\n

Solution<\/span><\/b>: The use of Eastern here is a purposeful deception, with the key words in\u00a0BOLD:\u00a0<\/b>Coastal Wilderness\u00a0<\/b>and\u00a0Inside Passage\u00a0<\/b>are the names of the areas we will be visiting<\/p>\n

\"Screen<\/p>\n

\nTo leave on this wonderful trip,
\nWe will be there soon,
\nHeading home in\u00a0June<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Solution<\/span><\/b>: We leave from\u00a0Sit<\/b>ka and return (head home) from\u00a0June<\/b>au<\/p>\n

\"Screen<\/p>\n

Early to rise,
\nThe sky so blue
\nI don some clothes
\nAnd observe the view.
\nSites abound
\nWonders all around<\/p>\n

Solution<\/span><\/b>: Simply that you get up early and get dressed as it is cold outside to see beautiful sites each morning. Given the long days it is light most of the day, and many of the wonders occur early in the morning hours!<\/p>\n

\"Screen<\/p>\n

So warm on top,
\nSo cold below,
\nTwo different worlds
\nFor us to go.
\nOn the rocks,
\nMy\u00a0calves so cold<\/b>
\nOr is it I, just getting old<\/p>\n

Solution<\/span><\/b>: In Alaska, 60 degrees for us on land, much colder in the water below. We will be seeing the glaciers : Ice calving –\u00a0calves so cold.\u00a0<\/b>(ps I am not that old \ud83d\ude42 )<\/p>\n

\"Screen<\/p>\n

Sites for sore eyes:
\nMy wonderful Uncle\u00a0Sal<\/b>\u00a0will visit us on\u00a0mon<\/b>day, GREAT!<\/p>\n

Boy,\u00a0wh<\/b>at an amber looking\u00a0ale<\/b>, it tastes so good on these hot summer days!<\/p>\n

Solution<\/span><\/b>:\u00a0Salmon<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0Whale<\/b>\u00a0– come on this one was easy!<\/p>\n

Or; ca<\/b>n in the mirror, I only see
\nA name, or me?<\/b><\/p>\n

Solution<\/span><\/b>: Same as the one before –\u00a0Orca<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0Anemone……<\/b>duh!<\/p>\n

\"Screen<\/p>\n

Mom\u2019s\u00a0house<\/b>, in the\u00a0middle<\/b>, of AA
\nI must find her room, \u201cAack<\/b>\u00a0this is hard\u201d,
\nBut well worth the pain.<\/p>\n

My favorite clue \ud83d\ude42 Solution<\/span><\/b>: “Mom” went to University of Michigan in Ann Arbor (AA). She was in the Alpha\u00a0Chi\u00a0<\/b>Omega sorority house (the\u00a0middle<\/b>\u00a0word). Throw in\u00a0Aack<\/b>\u00a0and you get:\u00a0Kayak.\u00a0<\/b>We do a lot of this on the trip and the kids ALWAYS complain of how much they hurt after kayaking!<\/p>\n

\"Screen<\/p>\n

Passive, active or ney, hoorah!<\/p>\n

A choice to make each lovely day.<\/p>\n

Solution<\/span><\/b>: Each day on the trip you get to pick if you want a super active hike, moderate activity or just sit on your butt.<\/p>\n

A monthly read, what a buzz<\/p>\n

Amazing views with words to love<\/p>\n

Solution<\/span><\/b>: We are going on a National Geographic cruise. National Geographic Magazine comes out\u00a0monthly<\/b>\u00a0and is the color of a bee (buzz<\/b>), black and yellow. It does have wonderful pictures and stories.<\/p>\n

Name, borrow and brothel are\u00a0close<\/b><\/p>\n

Tap<\/b>\u00a0across the garden\u00a0hose<\/b><\/p>\n

Solution<\/span><\/b>:\u00a0Close<\/b>\u00a0meaning almost spelled correctly: Nome, Barrow and Bethel are cities in Alaska.\u00a0Tap\u00a0<\/b>is the\u00a0T<\/b>rans-a<\/b>laska\u00a0p<\/b>ipeline, like a\u00a0hose<\/b>\u00a0carrying oil across the state<\/p>\n

\u201cAu naturale\u201d is it for me?<\/p>\n

Helps me learn of what I see<\/p>\n

Solution<\/span><\/b>: there is a Naturalist on the boat who teaches us each day about the sites we experience.<\/p>\n

\"Screen<\/p>\n

At\u00a02:15<\/b>\u00a0we lay down to sleep,\u00a0at\u00a02:17<\/b>\u00a0she snores
\nHow much can I take, I need my rest, with wonders still to explore.<\/p>\n

Solution<\/span><\/b>: We are in Rooms 215 and 217 on the boat, and although she will not admit it, my wife does rarely snore \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

\"Screen<\/p>\n

Sounds bizarre of that I am sure<\/p>\n

But promise I do that while away,<\/p>\n

All that ails will be cured!!<\/p>\n

Solution<\/span><\/b>: How can a cruise along the Inside Passage of Alaska not cure all your worries and concerns??!!<\/p>\n

Great job on all the guessing that’s for sure. A few of you certainly got the location so you get 2 stars for that, but nobody solved them all, so still a partial victory for THE CLUEMASTER!!<\/p>\n
