So. Let me paint you a picture. A few weeks back when I should have been making pretty things for my wedding and baking cookies to put into gift bags for our guests, I decided I should check out Amazon and see what kind of cookbooks were due to come out this fall. Little did I know that I basically added every other book to my shopping cart and spent 2 hours reading about the fabulous cooks that are publishing books in the next few months.

I’m jazzed to say the least. Now that the wedding planning is over, and I can eat whatever I want again because I don’t need to fit into my dress, I’m so excited to get back into the kitchen and cook up a storm!
So, here’s the deal. I picked my 10 most favorite titles that are due out this fall. Some of them were just released, and others are coming out in the next month or so. And I love each and every one of them. And can’t wait to get my hands on them too! And I feel like you should have them too. So let’s do a little giveaway shall we? Just peruse the books that are below, and pick your most favorite one or the one that looks the most like you, leave a comment telling me which cookbook is totally your jam and when I get back from my honeymoon on September 10th, I’ll pick 3 winners and mail ya the books of your choice!!
Sound good?
Okay go!
Here’s the deal. I love Aida. She is one heck of an amazing person and a dear dear friend of mine. So you should totally have her book. Not to mention her recipes are spot on and I’m not just saying that. I was cooking her recipes way before we were friends. And I trust her recipes to a T!

Weelicious: 140 Fast, Fresh, and Easy Recipes by Catherine McCord
Have a family? Look no further. Catherine, another wonderful friend of mine, has got ya covered! Her recipes will please even the pickiest eater and turn them into an adventurous one! Plus she’s gorgeous. So it’s another must have!

Muy Bueno: Three Generations of Authentic Mexican Flavor
Don’t mind me while I disappear into this book for the next 3 months. It’s another gorgeous book with to die for recipes! With 3 generations of recipes going into this book, it’s sure to be a winner in your kitchen!

I’m obsessed with Yotam. I’m pretty sure if we met in real life we would be great friends. I mean, I love all of his food, so I would just assume that we’d be friends in real life too. Don’t ya think? 🙂 His last cookbook, Plenty, was the inspiration behind so many of my pre-wedding meals. His food is clean, healthy and always flavorful! I can’t wait to dig into his latest!

The Sprouted Kitchen: A Tastier Take on Whole Foods
Based on one of my all time favorite blogs, this cookbook dives into the whole grains, whole foods and whole lotta vegetables. Plus the photography is breathtaking!

I mean, who doesn’t know Deb and her fab recipes!! I can’t wait to get this one into my hot little hands and start cooking and baking up a storm a la Deb!

Hugo Ortega’s Street Food of Mexico
I think I was meant to spend half of the year in Mexico. I’m just obsessed with Mexican cuisine. (I mean, guacamole in particular – but I love everything else too!) This cookbook, by Hugo Ortega just screamed my name when I came across it on Amazon. I think a street food adventure in Mexico sounds like something I was meant to do!

True Food: Seasonal, Sustainable, Simple, Pure
Have you guys ever been to True Food Kitchen? It’s one of my favorite restaurants here in Santa Monica. Want to know why? Because the food is fabulous and you actually leave feeling good! You’re not weighed down in greasy foods or stuffed to the brim with oversized portions. It’s just perfect. And this book is going to fit perfectly in my kitchen.

Have you guys had those life changing oreo stuffed chocolate chip cookies? Well, those are the genius brainchild of my friend Jenny Flake!! And she’s got a new book to go along with her fabulous blog! Jenny’s recipes are fun, playful, delicious and totally good for families! And the photos are gorgeous. Especially because my BFFs, Matt Armendariz and Adam Pearson did the photography and food styling! I worked on set as a food styling assistant too… and let me tell ya, I taste tested each recipe after it came from from it’s beauty shot. Soooo good!

Pure Vanilla: Irresistible Recipes and Essential Techniques
And last, but certainly not least, let’s end with something super sweet from my girl Shauna, she’s a total doll! 🙂 With recipes like Honey-Vanilla Granola Clusters, Vanilla Sea Salt Caramels, and Vanilla Mojitos, I think this is going to fit perfectly into my cookbook collection!

And there you have it. 10 cookbooks. 10 awesome cookbook authors. And a whole lotta new recipes for your Fall season! So what do you think? Which one stands out the most? Leave your thoughts below and I’ll pick winners once I’m back from soaking up every ounce of sun Mexico has to offer!!
p.s. if the book you pick is not yet released…. I’ll have it shipped out to you the second it is up for sale!!!
**Update** This contest is now closed. Winners please email me at gaby@whatsgabycooking.com so we can order your books and have them delivered as soon as they come out!!!
And the winners are……
Linda “I’d love Weelicious. My formerly adventurous toddler is becoming a picky preschooler! I’d love some more ideas for dinner.”
Eryn “What a tough pick, those all look amazing. I’d love Muy Bueno for the Mexican side of my family & Jerusalem: A Cookbook for the Israeli side of my family! You should then come over for a potluck, our food is amazing.
Congratulations on your wedding. I will give you the advice that was given to me on my wedding day, by my favorite aunt: Love each other deeply. Even when it’s difficult, just love each other deeply. It will carry you through anything that comes your way.”
Ashley @ Wishes for Dishes “I would love Picky Palate cookbook! I am a picky eater, after all
”
I have seem some of the recipes from Muy Bueno cookbook. Those take me back to when my Grandmother and my Mother were alive.
Happy memories, thanks!
I have definitely been eying the Sprouted Kitchen and the Smitten Kitchen cookbooks.
Looking forward to Muy Bueno!
I know there are a lot of mexican cookbooks out there, but Muy Bueno cookbook really has to be one of the tastiest and the only one on my list!
Ohhh I am so excited for all the books coming out this fall. I truly can’t wait to get my hands on Smittens and Picky Palates masterpieces and now I too have to head over to Amazon to see what I can see! Thanks for sharing!!
Oh man, soooo many great choices! I have to say, though, I absolutely love Smitten Kitchen, so that’s my vote. Thanks so much for the giveaway, and Congratulations!
I have been waiting for the Smitten Kitchen cookbook ever since it was announced! Smitten Kitchen is the first food blog I stumbled upon when I was out of college. I think I was Googling around for cupcakes and found Deb’s carrot cake cupcakes with maple cream cheese frosting. Ever since, it’s been one of my go to food blogs and I can’t wait for the cookbook! Have fun in Mexico!
They all look good. I would have to choose Muy Bueno.
I would not know which to decide between Muy Bueno Cookbook and ….. Muy Bueno Cookbook ! I have already tried a bunch of these recipes through their blog http://www.muybuenocookbook.com and it would be hard to believe that i was never quite the chef in the kitchen. If i would rate it, i would give it 10 stars!
I’ve known about a few of these, but thanks so much for making me aware of the others!! All of these are great choices, but if I had to pick… I’d say I’m definitely interested in the Muy Bueno cookbook. Why? I love the idea of a multi-generational recipe cookbook and I really want to learn how to make dishes other than the typical enchiladas, tacos and quesadillas!
Like you, I am a huge fan of Aida. Getting my hands on her cookbook will be awesome!
The Muy Bueno cookbook sounds delicious! I would love to cook authentic mexican food!
OMG-
Th Sprouted Kitchen I guess if If I have to pick one! They all look amazing!!!!! AMAZING!
Thanks for the information & for this giveaway! So exciting.
We love mexican food! I have already picked Muy Bueno and Street Food of Mexico!!
Weelicious looks perfect for our family… So tired of cooking two different meals to entice the young one to eat…
We love Mexican cuisiNe and would love to try some new recipes!!
First, Felicidades from Tucson on your wedding! This is so hard to just pick one as they all look great. I think the one that would most represent me would be Hugo Ortega’s Street Food of Mexico but would also like Aida’s Keys to the Kitchen to share with my daughter who is starting to get into the kitchen and experiment. I love your blog. Keep up the good work.
First off, let me just say I totally get what you mean about being “besties” with Hugo Ortega – after reading your post, I feel the same way about you! I just posted on Instagram about cookbooks wondering what everyone’s favorites are and now here YOU are talking about cookbooks too. It’s internet friendship bliss 🙂 (See the cookbook responses if you like…I’m @bakesweetlove on IG).
Now, which to choose?! I love them all! I love the idea of Weelicious and the “One familly One meal” thing because that is sort of our rule in this house….mom doesn’t run a restaurant. New recipes and inspiration are always needed! But then again, Muy Bueno sounds perfecto since I think in another life I was Mexican and have just totally forgotten how to actually cook Mexican food. I could eat Mexican for breakfast, lunch and dinner!! And then, there is anything that has to do with baking…Pure Vanilla sounds wonderful! But I couldn’t leave Jenny’s Picky Palate off my list! I adore her blog as well! So I’d say….I’d be happy with any of them. They all look wonderful! I may just have to do a bit of Amazon “window shopping” myself!
Man! How do I chose just one? I already pre-ordered smitten kitchen and plan to get Sprouted Kitchen, so I think I would chose Jerusalem. They all look great!
Picky Palate because, well I have one picky husband!
I would choose True Food: Seasonal, Sustainable, Simple, Pure. This basically sums up the way I want to eat everyday! Not to mention that cover photo is gorgeous. Sprouted Kitchen caught my eye as well…I just might have to order that one for myself! 🙂
Pure Vanilla!!!!! It looks amazing.
All of these sound wonderful, but I love the sound of Aida’s cookbook. I really enjoy cooking and would love to become more adventurous with it.
I would love to receive Weelicious! I have a family and some picky eaters; so this looks like it would be right up my alley. Plus who doesn’t love quick and easy meals. Have a blast in Mexico!
The Weelicious looks like my type of cookbook – I’ve got a family, and yes, they are picky!
Great giveaway!!
I can’t wait for Aida Mollenkamp’s new cookbook to come out. I actually have it on pre-order through Amazon! I would love to read, Muy Bueno: Three Generations of Authentic Mexican Flavor….we cook Mexican food about 3 times a week in my house and I don’t have a Mexican cookbook! 🙂
I can’t pick, really! But I’ll say Mexican Street Food as I hadn’t heard of it before this post. The others are in my cart already at amazon. I have to narrow it down somehow.
Smitten Kitchen!!!
True Food & Santa Monica….sublime combination. Thank you for the contest & wear sunblock in Mexico
I’m a fairly new subscriber to your blog and I just love it! Your recipes and photos always have me drooling. My husband and I have tried a number of them in the last month or two 🙂 Yum! I’d totally be into the Weelicious cookbook. My 3 kids are pretty good about trying new foods, but sometimes I find myself lacking the inspiration–not to mention it can be difficult finding fast and easy recipes in order to reduce my time wielding a knife with a two-year-old around! I’d especially love it if it means they could be involved in the cooking process a little more. What a fun blog 🙂
I love the Muy Bueno cookbook! Yum yum yum would love to make all of those recipes!
So hard to choose! I guess I would pick Muy Bueno. I would love to have authentic Mexican recipes to make at home!
Surprise me!!! They all sound like they have the most scrumptious probabilities!
I have the Smitten Kitchen on my Amazon wish list. All these cookbooks look fabulous, though!
Muybueno sounds delicious!
I would definitely have to say the True Food one looks right up my alley. I’m trying to eat healthier without feeling restricted (aka not a “diet”) so this looks perfect! Enjoy your honeymoon 🙂
I would love the chance to win: Aida Mollenkamp’s Keys to the Kitchen: The Essential Reference for Becoming a More Accomplished, Adventurous Cook; and the other ones that I would love to delve into would be: The Sprouted Kitchen: A Tastier Take on Whole Foods; Jerusalem: A Cookbook: The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook; and True Food: Seasonal, Sustainable, Simple, Pure. It was hard to choose just one, but maybe you can help me make that decision!!! 🙂
Weelicious, Muy Bueno, and Street Food of Mexico look like they would be really good, but if I had to pick only one it would be Muy Bueno.
Not gonna lie, this was hard to chose the one that stood out the most. But I give it to Aida! This is exactly what I need to step things up in the kitchen. I need to get away from my regular 5 dishes I make. And it would make a perfect gift since I’m getting married on 9/15! My future hubby will thank you 😉
This is a tough choice, but Keys to the Kitchen would be great!
I think I’m pretty good in the kitchen, but would love some tips to get better. I probably need Weelicious more (with my squirmy little 2 1/2-year old), but Keys to the Kitchen would be something just for me. 🙂
Smitten Kitchen! First food blog that I tried a recipe from 🙂
The Picky Palate Cookbook sounds perfect.
I am smitten with Smitten Kitchen!
I would love to have the Muy Bueno Cookbook beacause of the family recipes.
Pure Vanilla! I am obsessed with all things vanilla and baked!
You get married and we get a gift! 🙂 Weelicious is totally on my list – I have the most difficult eater ever on my hands and can use all the help I can get!
Oh my goodness . . . how to choose just one that stands out?! The Sprouted Kitchen has been on my Wish List since I first saw it . . . but the rest look just as intriguing — True Food, especially! Thanks for the chance!
I am going to have to go with Muy Bueno! I am obsessed with Mexican food as much as you are if not more! And I love their blog!!
What a delicious lineup of cookbooks to launch us into fall! I have ‘Plenty’..and have loved every recipe in it! This time around I will choose something new… The Sprouted Kitchen is my pick. Thank you and congratulations on your new marriage! Cheers!
This is the best Mexican cookbook. The recipes are so close to my mother’s cooking. I was not able to copy all of my mother’s and family’s recipes before leaving Mexico. I can honestly say this is real Mexican home cooking. Thanks for the chance for the give away.
Adios!
